Roane County High School

Raiders -- Wrestling

Roane County High School is a product of consolidation between Spencer (AA) and Walton (A) high schools in 1993. Roane County has a rich wrestling history. National Hall of Fame Coach Garry Bender and assistant Terry Kendall coached the first Raider teams until turning the program over to Wayne Jarvis and Toby Ford in 2007.

Since that time the Raiders placed 5th in the state in 2008 and 4th in 2009. This year's team will be young but experienced. Featured on the Raiders roster will be junior Josh Fisher (2X State Champ, 2X All-American and National Champion) and sophomore Dylan Cottrell (State Champ and All-American). Also expected to highlight the Raiders will be junior Brad Hickman (2nd in state 112 in 07) and sophomore Sam Whiting, among others. Returning for the Raiders will be Tyler Dolan, Cory Ash, Clayton Jarvis, Kyle Crihfield, Steven Martin, Jacob Summers, Luke Hottle, Andy Jorgensen, and Zach Snodgress. Some talented newcomers expected to make an immediate contribution in the upper weight classes will be freshmen Sam Lawson and John Ash. The Raiders wrestle a competitive schedule and look forward to an exciting season in 2009-10.
