  North Marion High School is looking to fill a spot for it's December 19 Holiday Quad. We run a JV tournament simultaneously with this so it is a great opportunity to bring your whole team. Other teams include Grafton and Herbert Hoover. More information on the JV Tourn will be forthcoming.

  Ravenswood Youth Wrestling Club Seeks Dual Meets and Clinicians
  Our club would like to try and bring in a wrestling "expert" from our area from time to time over the course of the upcoming season to put on a short clinic (show a certain "series", etc) for our youth - especially for our more experienced wrestlers. We likely would want to hold these on a Mon, Tues or Thur (along with - or in place of - our normal practices). We would be glad to invite and see other area wrestlers and clubs participate in these also. If you are an area HS, Club, etc coach and interested in teaching such - even once during this upcoming season - please let us know. See my info and contact me please.
  
  Also, in the interest of seeking some more "mat time" for our youth (especially those new to the sport) our club would like to have some duals (can call them "exhibitions" if you like) with other clubs in the area. Please contact me if you would like to arrange something. We will be glad to make 2 match "deals" (you come to our place once and we come to your's once), etc. When held at our facility, we can likely provide a certified referee if desired. Would like to do these primarily during the week (Mon, Tues or Thur). We would like to begin these about mid December or so...Thanks and best wishes to all our young wrestlers and programs this season!

  Lafayette High School in Lexington, KY is hosting the Five Star Classic Wrestling Tournament on January 10th, 2009.
  The Five Star Classic is a 16 team tournament that combines both duals and a tournament. We currently have two openings and are looking to add teams from out of state.
  Format will be two pools of eight teams broken into sub-pools of four teams. Teams will wrestle the other three teams in their sub-pool in Rounds 1-6. After a short break, the individuals with the best record or criteria (see attached) at each weight will come out of each sub-pool to wrestle the other sub-pools in their main pool of eight teams in a semifinals match (Round 7). The winners of Round 7 will wrestle each other in a Finals match (Round 8) to determine the Champion and the losers of round 7 will wrestle for third place (Round 8). The individuals with the second best record or criteria (see attached) at each weight will come out of each sub-pool to wrestle the other sub-pools in their main pool of eight teams in a consolation semifinals match (Round 7). The winners of Round 7 consolations will wrestle each other in a consolation finals match (Round 8) to determine fifth place and the losers of round 7 consolations will wrestle for seventh place (Round 8).

  With growing demand for Duals Tournaments that draw East vs West on many levels the Midwest Grand Challenge has been added to the 2009 Spring Duals Schedule May 16, 2009. Excellent get ready for NHSCA top teams from Michigan, Illinois and other Midwest States.
  
  Easy drive from from the Pittsburgh, Chicago, Indy, and Cleveland areas.
  
  Folkstyle Duals continue to build and draw talent. Added Folkstyle Duals Tournament May 16th, 2009 Kellogg Arena will host the Midwest Grand Challenge. Same format and many of the same teams as the August Grand River Rumble. The 2009 GRR will remain at Lowell, Michigan as the Grand Challenge will be at Kellogg Arena.

  The Charter Communications Indian Classic Wrestling Tournament on December 12 & 13 will feature a 32 team individual tournament. Tournament will be held at Dobyns-Bennett HS. We will wrestle on 8 mats. We will have teams from TN, GA, AL, KY, NC, SC, VA, WV and possibly OH, or PA. We will limit the number of teams by area.   Richwood High School is looking to add 1 more teams for a 18 team duals tournament which will take place on January 23-24, 2009.
  
  This tournament is sponsored by The West Virginia Army National Guards and will take place in Summersville, West Virginia at the Nicholas County Armory. It will be run as a round robin dual tournament, run on 5 mats. Top 4 wrestlers will receive awards as well as the top 6 teams. Extras will be added to fill weight classes. Every wrestler will be guaranteed 10 matches on both days of wrestling. Entry fee will be $100.00. Format: 18 Team Duals Tournament (Wrestling on Friday and Saturday)-(5 matches each day) Wrestling Friday will consist of three-six team pools in a round robin. The top 2 teams from each pool will be in the championship pool on Saturday. The 3rd and 4th place teams on Friday will make up pool 2 and the 5th and 6th place teams will make up pool 3Coach's hospitality room will be available. Teams committed are: Richwood, Nicholas, Webster, Meadow Bridge, Shady Spring, Wyoming East, Greenbrier East, Herbert Hoover, Princeton, Bluefield, Pikeview, Tazewell VA, Bristol VA, Sissonville, Morgantown, East Fairmont.

  Border Wars Invitational -- 2008 Border Wars - December 19th and 20th
  Skyline High School, Front Royal, VA
  The VA field for the 2008 Border Wars dual tournament is full and my goal is to have at least 4 non-VA teams in the mix. This is a two day dual meet tournament with 16 teams. On day one everyone wrestles in a 4 team pool. A 12 team bracket is seeded based on how you did in your pool, 4th place from each pool is eliminated. Each 4th place team will wrestle each other in a quad on day 2. Round 1 is wrestled Friday night and the top teams from each pool get a bye. The bottom team in each pool gets 3 matches. Everyone else gets 5-9 matches. My goal is to develop this tournament into a highly competitive event. This will be a sanctioned event.

  3rd Annual Ashland University Fr./JV High School Battle on Monday, December 22nd, 2008.
  This year we had 32 teams participating in this event. It is a great mix of southern and northern Ohio Teams. We will run two 24 man brackets per weight class on 6-8 mats. We will present awards to the top 4 individuals in each weight class (2 sets), top 2 teams as well as a MVP of the tournament. Teams may enter no more than 20 wrestlers and no more than 2 per weight class. Teams participating in 2007; Big Walnut, Brecksville, Clearview, Cleveland Central Catholic, Cloverleaf, Crestview, Delphos Jefferson, Dublin Scioto, Lexington, Medina, Medina Highland, Midpark, Mt. Vernon, New Lexington, Nordonia, Normandy, Riverside, Rossford, Sandy Valley, DeSales, Strongsville, St. Vincent-St. Mary, Padua, Twinsburg, Worthington, Waynedale, Willoughby South, Woodridge, Boardman, Wadsworth, Riverside.

  This is a 16-Team Pool Tournament with each wrestler getting 5 matches. Again this tournament is a great mix of southern and northern Ohio Teams. We will present awards to the top 4 individuals in each weight class, top 2 teams as well as a MVP of the tournament.   Hedgesville High School will be hosting a 10 team Round Robin Dual Tournament on the weekend of December 5/6th 2008. All teams involved will wrestle ten matches in the weekend, making this a great way to get early season mat time. In addition to your varsity wrestlers getting matches, all invited teams will also have the option of bringing their JV wrestlers with them. We will have additional mats set up in our auxiliary gym for weekend long JV matchups. All in all a great weekend of wrestling for your entire program.
