Congratulations to Hayley Snyder of Warren Local making OVAC history
Wrestling in the OVAC tournament at 113 pounds, she has a 3-1 record thus far and is still alive in the consolation bracket. And I'm guessing she just became the first girl to reach the podium in the history of the event, as she can finish no lower than 8th place. Unfortunately she has to meet the only wrestler to beat her thus far in tomorrow mornings first round of consolation matches. That was to the 7th seed (actually the 6th seed as the 5th seeded wrestler did not wrestle in the event), Brodi Bowersock of Beaver Local to whom she lost 8-0 in the first round. Bowersock has pinned all of his other opponents except his lone loss to the 3rd seed by a decision. She also defeated the 11th seed (actually the 10th seed) to reach the podium. On the other hand, she can become one of the many wrestlers to avenge a previous loss in a tournament. I've luckily seen all of her matches over the past 2 days and she certainly deserves to be in the position she has achieved. Congratulations on making history, unless I'm in error about a girl achieving the podium previously. No matter what, congratulations are in order.
