Tough openers

South and Ripley start their seasons this Saturday in Lakewood, Ohio against two nationally ranked teams...#3 St Edwards and #24 Wadsworth.

Apparently the wrestle offs this week have yielded some surprises.

According to my good friend "Truesouthfaninatreestand", the wrestle offs continue today. 170 is not finalized yet.

Guys, that old saying may be true, but only applies once you're good, in my opinion. If you're better than most, and want to be the best, then yes, you'll have to beat the "best". I do not think it should be taken as an automatic formula for improvement though, unless you're some kind of masochist. I would not be making my wrestlers better simply by finding the most lopsided mismatches in the land. The teams that go to these events can handle it, or have enough kids that can, to make it pay off, however, most teams don't need to go far to find people better than themselves. When you look around and start to think you're the king of the hill, then find a bigger hill.

They say "iron sharpens iron". Sometimes it is "iron beats off the rust".

I do recall seeing many scores last season. When South went across the border, I recall a few dual matches where Lambiotte and DeLong were the only winners. Allman was out with his knee. Lambiotte and DeLong are wrestling in college now.
