Yeah, with two returning champs and multiple placers I think they will be on top.

I guess nobody is in wrestling mode yet! In the northern part of the state Hunter Nixon, Billy Gooch, Cody Taggart, Eric Brothers, Quentin Velas, and Nate Shelek come to mind. Elswhere, Will Kuhn, Querrier Phillips, Bo Moler, Kemo Summers, Derek Raike, Joey Miller, Isaac Van Meter, Colby Piner, Garrett Conaway, Isaiah Isabelle, Chase Patterson, Thomas Hartley, Patrick Jackson, and Gage Wright all come to mind. I'm sure there are a bunch more but this is just what I could remember off the top of my head. Maybe this will get the talk going a little.

Chase Patterson and Joey Miller are both freshman now, not sure about Isabelle. The Dolan brothers, Michael and Matthew will continue to be tough competitors at the MS level. Matthew Jenkins deserves to be mentioned on this list as well. He beat Quiocho in the finals at Jr States when they were both 12 two years ago. He only lost to a very tough Jordan Williams (champ) last year at the WVYWA State tournament to finish 3rd. A few others that come to mind; Nevin Milburn, Josh Alt,Hunter Locke, Kade Bradbury, Ethan Hardy & Layne Spitzer.

Your list was pretty good though Bill!

I heard the Kuhn boy injured his leg during football this season... not sure if and when he makes it back for the season. Anyone know? Also, Scott and Jones from Fairmont have been coming on pretty strong the last year or so, along with the Knight boy from Doddridge.

Not good at the upper weights but I'll take a crack at the lower weights.
78-Freeman PP
84-Short GW
90-Phillips/Wright/Dolan-tough class
95- Smith PP
102- Raike PP
110-White PP
116- Vaughn BMS
123-Nixon WMS
128-Kuhn
I may not even be close!

I wasn't sure about some of the grades. Most of them I know from wrestling my son over the years or wrestling with him. Kids are growing like crazy right now. Hunter Nixon is about 135 pounds. Billy Gooch is up to about 120. Not sure about the others that you mentioned

I forgot about Jenkins. He has always been tough and has battled through some injuries, as well. Chase and Miller being freshman makes me feel really old!!! It will be fun this year to see how all of the freshman we have "grown up" with do at the high school level.

Yes, a very deep & talented group of freshman this year. I imagine they'll all be fun to watch throughout their HS careers.

Indy has some tough 6th graders coming in and a great coach. I would say they are a top 5 dual team. Not sure where the Parkersburg 6th graders will attend but either Edison or Blennerhasset will reload with some tough, young talent. its wrestling season fellas. I'm ready

We will have an idea after the weekend of December 3. I'm sure the thoughts will come flying in after week 1 of action!

I'm not for sure about these predictions. Whoever this was has kids in wrong weights, wrestlers not wrestling this year, etc.... I believe research needs to be done.

I think we could see some sleeper sixth graders at these lower rates that are not mentioned.

78lb will be a good match up with Dolan & Freeman. Dolan just wrestled 65 at 2016 Suoer 32.
84lb will de short, 95lb no doubt there with Raike.

Is the 78lber you mention the younger or older Dolan brother? I couldn't imagine the younger Matthew growing into a full sized 78lber. Both of those boys are tough and very seasoned. Their parents and coaches have done a fine job!

Was at the quad between West Fairmont, Lincoln, Doddridge and Robert Bland (Lewis), the other night... the Kuhn kid was not there. Apparently he was injured in football this season. So that's one very talented kid out of the mix this season. It's a shame too. West won the quad, but they are missing the heavier weight classes. They looked pretty good in all other areas though. Doddridge will be competitive as well.
