Good question. A lot depends on who stays at 160 and who moves up to 170. Trapper Hays and Casey Mowder both graduated, so that will probably motivate several of those 160 guys to stay there. I think you have to consider Chaston Holley from Cabell Midland as a top contender since he placed 5th as a freshman, but just being a freshman means he isn't finished growing and may hit a growth spurt and end up at 182. You also have the two Hunters returning as seniors, so you have to consider them.

Assuming nobody moves weight classes, I would say Hunter Jones, Chaston Holley, Hunter White in that order. If Hunter Delong from South moves up then you gotta consider him in the top 2 or 3 considering he placed 3rd at 160 as a sophomore last year, but he is easily the guy to beat at 160 and may stay there. 170 could turn out to be the weight class to watch.

Holley wrestled 195 at freshmen nationals last ur so I don't think he is at 70. Jones wrestled 52 or 60 at Fargo so he prob isn't 70. Nick Johnson of pbhs.

Holley being 195 at Nationals doesn't mean he won't be at 170 next year. If he couldn't make 182 then he had to wrestle 195. He could have easily weighed in at 182.1 and had to wrestle up. My son wrestled 123 during the middle school season last year but had to wrestle 135 at Nationals because he weighed in at 128 and missed the 127 class. Once regular season is over these kids lose weight control focus. If Holley is walking around at 180 or so he could easily make 170 after a month of practice.

That is very true. We wrestle up during the off season as well. If Holley is at 70 then he is definitely a top contender. I don't know him personally, like how tall or thick he is as well as offseason lifting program etc. never know how much kids grow during off season so it is very difficult to know where anyone is right now.
In AA shaw kid could be at 70 as he was 60 last yr but I don't think he is real tall but he was in finals last yr at 60. Also in AA mason from Richie was just a freshmen and made it to st finals but have no idea if he is back at that weight.

I doubt Holley or both Hunters will be at 170. Possibly in this trio one will go up, one will stay and maybe even one goes down.

I think that Jackson from Nitro will shake up the 170 weight class for sure. He has definitely put his in his time in the room, and is extremely skilled on top.
My prediction is to see Corey Shamblin and Terrell Jackson in the finals, and it will be a grudge match for sure.
I hear that Corey recently signed with the Army and has been doing Basic Training so his endurance will most certainly be outstanding.
170 will sure be the weight class to watch this year.

On the other hand the AA bracket is open for anyone to take with last years dominate state champ Cole Boatright graduating.
