AAA 182

Postby Jon Perkins » Sat Mar 05, 2022 6:52 pm

I noticed in the updated brackets that the name of the wrestler for Parkersburg South does not show up, it says "Vacant." I was wondering if anyone had any info on this, it is an unusual situation for this to happen.

More often than not. When a wrestler is DQed, they are dropped from the tournament and they lose all team points earned. I wasn’t there, but that is most often the case.
Enough said

If you ain't talking then why tell us you have the scoop.

I did see that this happened again at the 160 lb weight class as well. By your response I will assume that there was Disqualifications at these two weights. I would have assumed that the results would have indicated that there was a DQ and just not a Forfeit. I don't really care what happened one way or the other and certainly don't need details, I just thought it was an odd incident and thought I would ask.

Congrats to WP and PP on their state championships.

In looking at the NFHS rule book I see that FMC has a very specific list of things that constitute this offense but then throws in the blurb that it is not limited to the things on that list and can include any act that the presiding match official feels constitutes FMC. My first thought is that this seems a bit arbitrary in nature. One official may have a problem with a particular act while another may not at all. Why bother to publish a list when in fact wrestlers are totally at the mercy of an officials own personal definition of FMC?

Good point mscoach4. Those are the kind of things that should be more clear! Maybe if the officials were more consistent it might be more uniform in their calls. Veteran officials not knowing the rules or how to interpret them is a problem.
