Re: AAA 113 - The Stage is Set

Depends on how you look at it I guess. Perception. One might say teams in these Region 2 schools were more successful because they got their kids qualified easier. My post was sarcastic in nature. WVSSAC has rules to "level the playing field", but they seem to choose the ones they want to ...

If parents truly loved their kids, they would simply move to an area where their kids can be more successful.

Oh wait that already happens.

Re: AAA Region 4 Brackets compared to AAA Region 2 Brackets

120 & 220 are the 2 weight classes with 4 wrestlers. All 8 qualify automatically.

Easy Gator! These boys gotta make weight first :D .
I'm sure they will, good luck to all.

Re: AAA Region 4 Brackets compared to AAA Region 2 Brackets

Yikes. Several weight classes with only 5-6 kids. Heck I think the biggest weight class may have 7 kids in it. Found a couple with only 4 kids. So everyone qualifies for states in that weight class as along as they make weight. Hopefully the WVSSAC sees this and changes are made for next yea...

Is it against the rules to quote myself? :?: The "haves" will be able to get better while the "have nots" do not have the option. Frank, I did not say kids have "no option" and yes I agree we all have an option but we might not like it. I was referring to option, being ...

Maybe they all wrestled a tough schedule.

There was a young man from Huntington High several years ago who had a losing record but finished 2nd in the state.

Doc is smarter than most of us combined. I figure the rankings are more accurate than they are inaccurate. Remember most people who do not like the rankings may have trouble seeing them objectively. I am not defending the rankings for the use of the 5th place to fill in the bye. I am defending my op...

However, you can't get coaches to turn in results to be published which then limits the few coaches who vote on the rankings which can and does skew the very subjective rankings.

How are the rankings subjective?

Re: Switching Weight Classes and Win/Loss Record

I am with bearhugger on this. Established rules for wrestle-offs and changing weights is important to team chemistry. When I was HC I had a clearly explained policy that winning 3 consecutive wrestle-offs resulted in that wrestler being named varsity for the rest of the season in that weight class,...

"A good coach" has multiple meanings to different people.

Bear, are you saying that once "a good coach" has rules in writing they should not be changed during season?

Why would South and Huntington not wrestle? Now that they are both in region 4 it would help with seeding.

Nobody has presented that logical reason for the no, it's just "it's always been that way, so no". Your first mistake was asking for logical reasoning. To say that the rankings should then be taken into consideration for regional seeding tho is not valid. If you have been in seeding meeti...

South is going to win AAA. Independence is going to win AA/A. I really doubt this "bye filling wrestler" is going to shake up the team scores. Finishing 11th instead of 12th might be some kind of moral victory for some teams, but nobody will remember 3 minutes after they read the final re...

Re: AAA 120 Travesty of Competition

This is all hypothetical. In reference to the 5th placer being moved into the BYE position in the bracket, he or she must be a scoring wrestler. If the criteria moved the wrestler into the tournament then they score team points. Now you might begin to see the human factor become involved. Currently ...

You're not rude. You're asking questions. The Wrestling Coaches Association (meets Friday morning of States) has to cover the topic and vote on it. There isn't much value placed on the msac tournament. Teams hold kids out to rest or to protect their seed for regionals.
