We seem to be witnessing the consolidation of elite talent to fewer schools and I assume it’s mostly due to NIL. Do you all think that other schools will step up to try to match the investment or will see more divestiture of wrestling in D1 programs as a result?

Does the 30 man roster limit go into effect now? I noticed about 5 or 6 wrestlers hitting the portal out of WVU, including several of our 133/141 wrestlers?

I think they keep him in his redshirt. I think he may have one or two more opportunities to start in a dual and still keep his redshirt. I think you are probably pretty close. I really like how our team has not portaled and has stayed pretty steady. Continuity in the mat room could be a bonus that most teams don't enjoy. Strickenberger looked gassed in the 2nd period. I hope he is fully recovered by this evening and would guess that with the extra hours after weigh ins he will be a different wrestler. That dude needs to go 133.

I think I remember seeing that Rune had chosen WVU because it was close to his home and he could commute.

The only 141 ranked higher than Titus that did not AQ was Cornella so Titus should get in for sure. Now let’s hope he’s healthy.

With Titus being a top 10/15 wrestler an at large bid is a no brainer

Those are good picks. I think that Strick, Titus, Watters, Hall, Conley get AQ bids. I think Dowling has to beat at least 2-3 better guys to make it and he has not shown ability to win the big ones yet. I agree that region 1 doesn’t really get help from this. They probably need to juggle some schools between regions.

Jett looked really good at 133. Seemed to move well and maintain his energy. For duals that seems like a better option for the team with Schafer at 125 and Jett at 133. Schafer seems stronger at 125 then Rhodes does at 133.

I hope whatever is wrong with Jett gets figured out. When he’s right he has AA potential. Poulin #8 just beat Provo #2 and Jett has beat Poulin. 125 is a wild weight class.

Conditioning seemed to an issue at 125 and HWT. McDougal had a good counter attack strategy against Watters but I think Watters figures it out and buries him at Big 12's. I also think its going to be close. It may be decided by bonus points for sure and I think WVU may have an edge there as their bonus rate has been awesome so far.

I saw that too, maybe he can’t beat Watters? Coach Flynn did say that Watters was looking really strong. I am also interested to see how Dolan does against Strickenbacher.

I think they will be a good dual team. Overall, i think the upper weights (165-hwt) will carry more of the team. Not sold on Tyson at 141 because he looks small compared to his competition, but must not be able to make 133 anymore. Concerned that many of the duals will started off with 2-3 losses. ...
