Twenty-First Annual "Hall of Fame Day" Banquet
October 27, 2024
Embassy Suites, Charleston WV
Seven new members were inducted into the West Virginia Chapter, National Wrestling Hall of Fame on this beautiful fall afternoon at the end of October. This year's banquet was one of the best-attended in years!
Sadly, we recognized two legendary coaches and one official whom we lost this year: Coach Jim Potts (WV-HOF '07), Official Burton Rodgers (WV-HOF '13), and Coach Mike Stump (WV-HOF '15).
Master of Ceremonies Bill Archer (WV-HOF '07) was held back by needing to use a cane (due to an accident), but he also explained he was going to have to keep a lid on some of his usual colorful comments. That lid might have slightly slipped off a time or two...
The recipients came from a variety of backgrounds, but they all seemed to profess the same thing in their acceptance speeches: the love of family and the love of the sport of wrestling. The gentlemen expressed gratitude for the opportunities given them, the memories they've made during the course of their careers, and above all, the loving support of their families.
Congratulations to this year's Class of 2024, AND their families, friends, and supporters!
