Re: AAA 2016 State Championship Predictions
I believe anyone can be beat anytime. A trip, a stumble, a simple headgear adjustment can open the door for any skilled wrestler. However given his record, I can see how Allman is favored...makes sense and really isn't near as interesting as who will face him from the bottom bracket. There has not been the head to head matches to rate one above the other....that I know of. They may have wrestled a few of the same people but that's no measurement of how they will do against each other. Should be some good matches!
I'm just saying we KNOW how good Allman is and the expectations set forth...but what about the ones wanting to meet up with him... Who's it gonna be? Yohn and Bowlin both faired well at 220, as did Doll in the early season. Pomeroy has a great record at 195. Who has the hips, strength and gut to get to the final to meet Allman?

Re: AAA 2016 State Championship Predictions
Allman is a stud! I've enjoyed watching him wrestle through the years. He is a blue-collar wrestler that gets the job done. Watching him wrestle is like watching a defensive battle in football or a pitching dual in baseball, not a lot of flashy points or big hits, but paces himself and gets the job done. The funny thing is he has turned it up a notch this year and probably has more pins than ever. I'm a big fan of his. I'm not saying he can't be beat, but at 42-2 the odds are against it. Go Justin! rootin' you on for a third title.

Re: AAA 2016 State Championship Predictions
Allman is a beast and good thing he is in triple A and Adams is in AA or Allman wouldn't win the title but Allman will win AAA title again!!!! Now heavyweight I think you all are crazy lol. Powers is a very strong young man but he only does Cowboys and you can't win a state title doing just a cowboy. I think people are sleeping on swafford from Woodrow he is a small heavyweight but quick and intelligent! He beat wykle by pin I believe. He also beat defending champ Markley 4-0 at winners choice so the guy is an animal I think for heavyweight it can be him
Steirwalt or hicks.
Steirwalt or hicks.

Re: AAA 2016 State Championship Predictions
Brent's post about Justin Allman having more pins this year got me curious, so I decided to look it up. (What can I say, I'm helping out a little behind the scenes for South's year-end stats stuff. Gotta have something to do on my lunch hour!)
Allman has 25 pins this year, compared to 14 his sophomore year, and 10 his freshman year.
I missed the Independence/South match at the WV Duals due to a miscommunication, and I hated that I didn't get see Adams and Allman wrestle. I wish them both the best in their quests to repeat as state champions!

Cardio can play a big part in high scoring match. But All an won't let that happen. He wrestles under control. And I've seen high cardio wrestlers blow it out early and be done

Re: AAA 2016 State Championship Predictions
106 Barber
113 Sharp
120 Humphreys
126 Henson
132 You Pick Donahue has to go thru Moore and Crewdson to get to finals tuff bracket. The lower should have Starkey and Jeffers in semi's. This is a tuff weight class. Donahue
138 Simpkins
145 Tenney
152 Jordan
160 Jones
170 Johnson
182 Stafford
195 Allman the experience will get him past Pomeroy in finals.
220 Another good one Mills, Holstion, Haynes, these are going to be good matches. I think Mills will surprise everyone by wrestling to his ability.
285 Wykle, he made a bad move that got him pinned in regionals and I don't see that happening at the States.
Just my opinion, I wish all of the wrestlers a safe and fun tournament. I would also like to thank them all for an enjoyable season. I got to see some really good wrestling from these fine young men. Wish them well in the future.

I'm still bummed that the weather cost us the chance at the Z's to see several of the 106 wrestlers go at it and 113 Martin/Whorton/ Sharp and 120 Humphreys/Moore II!
