WVU 2023-34 Schedule

[WVU]

WVU is usually one of the later teams to release its upcoming season schedule, but we can piece some of it together as other schools release their respective schedules.

Columbia released its 2023-34 schedule a couple of weeks ago listing a "Battle on the Boardwalk" match against WVU in Atlantic City, NJ on Jan 7th:

Fairmont State has their schedule out. It looks like a dual with WVU is scheduled December 15th.

By the time WVU releases their schedule, we will have pieced it all together from all the programs' schedules.

The word on the street is there will be a Glenville match once things are sorted out with the basketball schedule.

Posting the schedule for 2023 through 2034 would be very impressive. I'm on a mission to comb the 8&under youth results so I can let everyone know which incoming freshmen to watch for in that 2034 season.

Northern Colorado in Greely, CO on December 10th at 4 p.m. (I assume that is Mountain Time and not Eastern Time)

Kent State has two teams scheduled in Morgantown, WV on November 12th at 1 p.m. It looks like a Tri match between WVU, Kent State, and Duke.

Slowly but surely the schedule is coming together. I am interested to see what tournaments they are going to hit and if they decide to do the Midlands again or go back to the Southern Scuffle.

I like the schedule and the way it is set up, for the most part. I would like to see them going to another tournament other than the Shorty Hitchcock Open on Nov. 18th. The Navy Classic or the Keystone Classic would be much better options for that weekend. I would also like to see a Tri match with Fairmont State and Glenville State to possibly open up a date to add another ACC team or even another BIG 12 team like South Dakota State. I like the way the schedule is laid out. It starts off semi-competitive in the month of November, really heats up and gets really competitive the months of December, January, and the first week of February, and then it cools back off to keep the team competing while giving everyone a chance to heal up for the BIG 12's and the National Tournament.

Only one quad and 5 duals at home. College needs more tris and quads. Driving 1,2,3 or 4 hours to watch 10 matches is not going to pack the house.

Wrestling is a sport of required strong will. I find it hard to believe that the Fairmont Dual could not have been merged with another dual. The same could be said about Glenville.

The word on the streets of Glenville was that the scheduling of the dual of WVU vs Glenville was dependent on the basketball schedule.

Looks like a D II schedule to me. 4 or so Big 12 meets, the rest weaklings. Oh well.

It is difficult and frustrating because Wrestling needs to wait until basketball schedules are finalized before they can finalize their schedule. So it is basically who fit within certain dates. Now if they had a Volleyball/Wrestling only facility (like IU) it would be different. It would be nice to convert the Shell building into that to accommodate both of those sports.
