D II Brackets

The D2 National tournament begins on Friday and finishes up on Saturday evening. Some items of note that I seen while scanning the brackets.
133: Gavin Quiocho of Glenville State gets the 3rd seed. Looks to have a very tough Semifinals match and even tougher Finals match.
149: Nico Taddy of West Lib. gets the 5 seed and a decent chance of making the semifinals.
157: Guy DeLeonardis of Glenville State gets the 5 seed.
165: Brady Ross of Glenville State and Alec Cook of West Lib. both get pigtail matches.
174: Former WVU wrestler, Scott Joll, gets the 1 seed. Would love to see this dude grind out a championship, or an All American finish.
184: Ty McGeary of West Lib. gets the 1 seed, looking for another National Championship.
197: Nick Johnson of Glenville State drew the top seed for his first match and Mason Christian of West Lib. has a pigtail match.
HWT: Francesco Borsellino of West Lib earned the 1 seed; and deservedly so because with a name like that you have to be tough. Gavin Shamblin of Glenville State gets a bad draw and has the 2 seed for his first match.

Good luck to all these guys and if you get a chance to tune into any of these matches, do yourself a favor and do it because this is some tough and very competitive wrestling.

Day one proved to be a better for the Pioneers than the Hill Toppers (whatever a Hill Topper is). The Glenville State Pioneers sent two to the semi finals and will be guaranteed a top 6, All-American finish. Gavin Quiocho once again finds himself in the hunt for another national title. If he makes it to the finals he will be looking to avenge a loss earlier in the season to the Top seeded Gabe Hixenbaugh, from Montevallo, while Guy DeLeonardis will have an undefeated Nick Novack, from St. Cloud State, in his semifinals match.

The West Liberty Hill Toppers will send their Top seeded Ty McGeary to the semifinals while their 141 pounder, Kyvon Grace, is still alive on the back side of the bracket. West Lib seen their fifth seeded wrestler, Nico Taddy, and their Top seeded wrestler Francesco Borsellino, both get upset in two different matches to get beat out of the tournament.

Top seeded Scott Joll got upset in the quarters but made the comeback to win his Round of 12 match and will be a Division 2 All-American for UNC-Pembroke. Congrats to all these guys, this is quite an accomplishment.

Congratulations to Gavin Quiocho on a runner-up finish at the NCAA tournament, and also to Ty McGeary on his national championship. It is nice to see a couple of Division 2 schools consistently producing All Americans.
