explain this to me for this current year? In Huntington? Explain qualifying please?

Curious myself so I am following.

Good luck with getting a straight answer. Someone told me there would not be a middle school class this year. Hope that was misinformation.

i'll update what i have heard since i made this post. my understanding is that the middle school division has been removed from the WVYWA tournament in Huntington and has its own separate tournament that will be on Feb 19 in Summersville. I also heard that there is no regional tournament or qualifying rules. Basically it is the State Tournament for Middle School under the youth umbrella.

please correct me if anyone is positive on this. again, this is what i have heard and i am in no way saying that this is the gospel

I'm hearing the same thing.

Would like to get the facts and leave out the hearsay. Not saying I do not appreciate passing on what you have been told or heard. Just need the facts given to us all straight forward so we know how to prepare during the season.

This is what I heard too... I was wondering how they would be able to do qualifying with so many middle schools in the state, especially with no regionals. So would it be "team" attended or individual sign up? You think whoever is going to run with this "if true" would be putting out some info on it.

Yes middleschool states will be held at Summersville armory on Feb 19th we did this to highlight middleschool wrestlers instead of having to stop all wrestling just to wrestle finals and the 19th is the day after middleschool season is over instead of waiting a month we added 4 and under to peewee states in Huntington just to many different things going on at once. we can run 6 mats in armory track wrestling will be used

What will be the criteria used to wrestle in middle states?

It will be same as last year run like an open

But will the kids have to wrestle and place 4th or better at the regional like last year to qualify? Do they have to wrestle in an sanctioned open tournament in order to wrestle in the regional?

Middleschool division does not have to qualify or place at regionals there are no regionals for middleschool division. 12 and under must make base weight and qualify top 4 at regionals in there region to go to states

what if your middle schooler is 13? do they go to summersville, huntington, or parkersburg? all three if they want and/or qualify as needed?
