Any thought on upsets at states and the placement of the wrestlers

I do see where one returning state champion could get defeated in the semi finals by a wrestler who didn't crack the top 4 last season.

I expect to see a lot of upsets this years state tournament, many weight classes with top 3-5 being very close in skill level, it comes down to who wants it more

I did not mention any names or weight classes.

However, "Parts Unknown" is known for its special training sessions after the regular school practice concludes.

Just from looking at pairings I see upsets in first round( some may not see them as big upsets but still would be) @ every weight but 138,160, and 170 just because I haven't seen much from those weights this year. Some would be small like 3 over 2 but I see some where a regional champ is going to be beaten in first round. But who knows when it is one on one anything can happen.

It makes sense when you just look at the records: Nice (38-0) over Alex (41-2). Makes less sense when you say that last year's champion at 195 will fall to last year's 6th place at 182. From where I stand I'm a little biased but I think the strength of schedule and practice room partners gives Alex the edge in this one. Nice's first round match is no gimme, Brown is from GW, remember that it was Frazier from Greenbrier West that put Nice into the consi bracket last year. Anything can happen. It is going to be fun to watch some of these guys give their final performances. I expect a great match in the semi's but Bartender I'll take Daniels

Daniels' two losses were to out of state kids. I saw one of them. He lost on points to a kid from Christiansburg, Va, who I was told won the Powerade. Regardless, this Va kids was unlike any 220 pounder I have ever seen. Big, quick and had more moves than Exlax.

Independence has the best team in the state of WV. They also have zero undefeated wrestlers.

We shall see Friday.
