Team score looks spot on, I do think that 120,138,145 and HWT could flip the top two either way. Humphreys is the clear #1 at 152 but the other 3 spots could be a toss up between the next 5 in that weight class. 160 top three could end in any order... All in all it looks to be an outstanding day of wrestling!!

HWT is the only class that might create some chaos. 1 and 2 should be an epic battle and 3-7 could all beat each other any given night. From what everyone has seen from Haga and Porter they seem to be bulletproof in the state. I like Carder to win at 145 and I’m not opposed to 138 having their rubber match in the state finals. Should be some great wrestling this weekend.

Isn't Quiocho 1-0 against Molar?

Bonus for Parkersburg. Westfall from PHS will challenge as a state qualifier.

113. He could be the difference maker in the team race for second.

I think Doss and Easton will be an interesting match considering we haven’t seen them wrestle and their records are pretty similar. Also, Starkey and Parde at 70

Both of those matches are some of the matches I’m looking forward to seeing the most. I’ve seen Doss wrestle a few times and I believe he will be a force to reckon with come this time next year. Good wrestler with a lot of potential. I’ve yet had a chance to see Easton wrestle but from what the results I’ve seen, he looks good too.

How do you figure that? Seems to me, you're seriously fishing on this one

Starkey and Parde were under the same roof at WSAZ. Stacked weight class and Starkey dominated.

Who are the likely 106s not to qualify out of region 4 that could offset the bye coming out of region 3?

Samantha Miller from South?

My prediction is there will be several 5th or even 6th place finishers at Region 4 AAA that will not make it to states that can beat over half of their weight class at states. BTW several JVers will not be participating in regionals but would place at states if they were able to participate. Need 2 regionals or no regionals!

I get a kick out of anyone who predicts a loss for Hinzman from South. He has been challengened as much as any other wrestler from souths incredible schedule. Has any other 160# faced half the challenge he or his team has? I think not. Place your bets agiainst him, this “Ohl” coach knows who will win.

16 man bracket, can beat half the weight class, makes top 9, only place 6, so they would not place by your comment. I guess we leave it as is yo help other schools have success by having state qualifiers because right now that is better for the sport to have more schools with wrestling programs.
You have made your two region pitch, and again, and again, and again.
The horse is dead for this year, copy paste, save in notes so you can get your blood pressure up again next year.

If certain JVers were able to compete I feel confident they would place vs other regions where some don’t even have 4 competing in certain weight classes. I cannot understand why anyone familiar with this sport and work ethic it takes wouldn’t want two regionals or just do away with regionals all together in order to make the state tourney better competition,I know it ends up in the end some good championship matches but when will something get done about this region alignment mess? Thanks for your input, I understand making my pitch may aggrevate some in the two regionals but haven’t seen a better solution at least in AAA

Well, I haven't figured very hard on this one. I just figured if PHS only beat Huntington by a point at MSAC with their reserve 113 pounder, I figure they might improve a little bit with their starter Westfall back in the lineup. A mild upset of either Cross or Tucker in the consi blood round could possibly occur and help PHS point wise. I'm not much of a fisherman but I figure 4th place points are better than 6th place points. I've watched Westfall from a youth and he's got a competitive spirit and some fight in him. Varsity experience is hurting Westfall as a qualifier contender. That's how I figured it. Just a prediction for Region 4 AAA as the topic calls for.

Don't sleep on Siders at 138 or Cook at 285. Those two always have a chance, and can make some noise by wrestling up to their potential. I am not convinced it's a wrap on Martin at 132 or Tucker at 113........that's why they wrestle the matches. I am excited for some great wrestling this weekend.

And just to note.......I agree with vortex, I like the 2 Region set up. I still cannot wrap my head around how the Regions were decided, it makes no good sense. I also agree that it's a dead issue this season, but it should be fixed. North and South. Draw a line in the middle of the state, north of the line is northern region and south is southern. Take top 8 out of each region. But, like has been previously stated....it's a no go this season and probably next.

You do realize that the regions were drawn up the same for all sports and no consideration as to the strength of teams in wrestling was considered in the decision by the WVSSAC. Not saying it's correct, just explaining it.
