AAA Individual Rankings 2017 Week 1

Historically, the first individual rankings are posted between January 1 and January 7.

During the month of December, most of the competition is out of state and plenty of wrestlers have not settled down into their final weight class.

The following are NOT necessarily my picks for who will when the state title. In addition, the following are NOT necessarily who I will be rotting for.

The following IS my guess for the FIRST individual rankings in AAA:

106: 1. Windland/South, 2. Some hotshot freshman
113: 1. Wood/John Marshall, 2. ???????
120: 1. Adkins/Huntington, 2. Byrd/Parkersburg
126: 1. Martin/South, 2. Stewart/Huntington
132: 1. Creamer/Spring Valley, 2. Carmen/John Marshall
138: 1. Donahue/Parkersburg, 2. Jeffers/Huntington
145: 1. Humphreys/St. Albans, 2. Lanham/Huntington
152. 1. Pine/Washington, 2. Holley/Cabell Midland
160: 1. Nash/Wheeling park, 2. Garcia/BuckUp
170: 1. Lambiotte/South, 2. Morgan/Ripley
182: 1. Dunbar/South, 2. Morgan/Ripley
195: 1. Allman/South, 2. Holley/Cabell Midland
220: 1. DeLong/South, 2. Mills/Huntington
285: 1. Hicks/Cabell Midland, 2. South

I also predict that we will see different names in different weight classes from 195 and up for the South roster throughout the season.

I have heard rumors of Allman going to 182 and Holley going to 220. Also I heard Mills wasn't wrestling Holstien is at 285 he should be top 2

I have also heard the rumors about Allman and Mills. We shall see how things shake out. A multi-time place winner like Mills not even wrestling as a senior is a tragedy.

I know nothing about Holley whereas I have not been able to reach my good friend "TrueSouthFanInBarboursville" for the Milton/Ona/Barboursville update.

As for Holstien, I find this interesting. At the end of last season, I thought that the best chance for Riverside to get its first state champion would be for Holstien to go to 285.

How foolish of me to overlook him. He will more than likely be #1 wherever he ends up.

It would be more reasonable that Justin Allman wrestles 195 again or even 220. He's thick with muscle mass and 182 would be a big drop. #TrueSouthFanNotWearingARedShirt

I think some wrestlers are hoping and praying for Allman to drop down to 182. It is easier to hope and pray than it is to get in the weight room 3+ days a week for 9 months in the off season.

I only went two deep in the poll. Riverside is in a weak region. I have already performed a regional analysis but I am holding all of that back until practice starts.

This year, the pill suspense will be who gets a region 4 wrestler, regardless of their place.

Pomeroy is supposed to wrestle 195 and 220 then pick where he wants to go

More than likely, 195 will be the easier weight class if 2nd or third is what one is after. 220 will probably have more state tournament place winners to go through.

MSAC: 220 will be tougher.
AAA Region 3: 195 and 220 will be about the same. Not too tough.

This was a prediction for who would be where for the FIRST poll. The first poll usually is the least accurate.
