Re: Win with class lose with class
No words can describe how bad it was last night. The kids wrestling after the incidents were the ones that suffered. I’ve followed the state tournament over 20 years and never dreamed I’d see anything like this. Needless to say this may be the last one I attend. I was very saddened by everything tha...

Re: Sportsmanship
If a celebration is genuine and based on pure emotion then I have no problem with it. But sometimes it can border line show boating. That’s when I don’t like it.

Look at this situation from another angle. Now teammates and fellow students can come to the tournament to root on their peers without missing class.

Since we are exactly one week away from the semi finals I’d like to know which matches have the potential to steal the show Friday night. Some of the best matches I’ve seen have been in this particular session.

While that story is interesting. I could go either way on a dirty move or a brilliant one. BUT... What does that have to do with the Pill? I'm sure there was a regional runner-up that was miserable about it a week later but did it change the outcome of the state tournament. (other than perceived po...

THe Love of this Sport.
I’ve been involved in wrestling my entire life. As a youth wrestler I had the privilege of wrestling greats like Steve Higgins and Rob Archer. I’ve made numerous friends through the years thanks to this great sport. When my son reached the age I made sure he chose wrestling over basketball because o...

I’m not sure if he’s 45 or 52 but I wouldn’t leave Ward from Winfield out. Shamblin from Sissonville at 220 could also pull the upset.

It's the most emotional sport going ! There will be blow-ups. Some excessive ! Wrestlers are wired different. Nowadays ,,they back talk, say no, and sorta do as they please. Back in the day it was,,, YES SIR, and you did as was asked of you. No questions ! Now ,, you have good senior wrestlers maki...

If Ward from Winfield stays at 52 I would say Ward and Harvey will be a good one.

My kid had a 1000 matches before HS, 159 in HS and another 100 plus in college so I have seen a few questionable calls. Not once did I ever complain about a ref. The only time my kid ever complained about a ref to me was after losing a close match in a big tournament semi when ref awarded the other...

This class is wide open. I think Gavin Shamblin of Sissonville is a serious contender to win this class. He is really coming on going down the last stretch of the season.

Sad. This was one of the most underrated tournaments of the season as recently as 2 years ago. I remember seeing some great matches there. It’s a shame last years fiasco at the states reshuffled everything. Not to mention their great breakfast at Williamstown.

I wasn’t trying to cause anything by saying Lanham was elite. I was just trying to emphasize that Lanham has accomplished a lot here in WV. In my opinion he is in the lead for next years Dutton award. He has a great resume in this state. There is way too much negativity and bickering on this site. I...

Football? Sorry, I was talking about a state WRESTLING tournament. Flatwoods, yes centralized. How long until this sports complex is complete?? Who do you think is going to fund this project? Even if there are LEGITIMATE answers to these two questions, let's try something different for until then. ...

Re: Favorite Venue to watch wrestling in WV?
I wouldn’t mind Wheeling if football wasn’t already a mainstay there. To have another state tournament that far away from southern West Virginia would be tough on us.
