Re: New WVSSAC Rule

I am guessing this rule applies to high school athletes being able to compete in NCAA Open tournaments. I see no other reason for an athlete competing for another team. As far as needing permission to go practice, or to go workout, on an off day, this certainly seems like an overreach to me. I see ...

Re: Wrestles offs?

OK....I guess I don't get the point of that post. You seem offended that no one mentioned Ian's name to win the wrestle off. Up until now he has given me no reason to think that he was going to crack the starting lineup. Two years ago, he took his redshirt year while Anthony Carmen held the spot an...

Re: Wrestles offs?

I'm guessing if Dennis Robin is ranked 24 and Ian Bush beat him in wrestle offs, that would make Ian's ranking no lower than 23. Right? Don't get too caught up with this one match, Ian won with a takedown in the last 10 seconds. Although I did see improvement with Ian from last year, there is no se...

Re: New WVSSAC Rule

What is the purpose of this new rule?

If the student athlete attends school and attends the school team's wrestling practice, then it is nobody's business what they do on their free time.

Somebody please provide what this new rule is attempting to accomplish.

Re: WVU Lineup Early Look

With the new roster posted lets discuss some possible ways the lineup could look. Most of the weight classes are set but a few have some question marks. Lets discuss: 125: Jett should be the guy, but he obviously had some weight issues last year. Do we see him in this spot all year, does he move up...

Great minds think alike. I was planning on doing just this but on Facebook. I still will.

Thanks for the back up. I hope the WVMat readers can share names and 2024/2025 weight classes for the wrestlers that have not been listed yet.

Good luck to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes. The word on the street is:

1. Hoover has one from Braxton and one from Clay.

2. Braxton has two from Nicholas.

3. I think Roane has one from Calhoun.

More to come.

Reclassification vs The WV State Duals Qualification

Regional tournaments happened in February and the top four teams to compete for a chance to compete at the 2025 State Duals Championship were identified. With the proposed regional realignment, this creates some reworking and possible conceding. Fairmont Senior is going from AA/A Region 1 to AAA Reg...

Re: AA/A ranked wrestlers per region

It's been easy for a school like Indy or Point (mainly Point) to dominate at states because they send their full line up every year compared to whomever is the best school in region 1. Region 4 is Point and that's it, literally no one else at all. Ouch. I guess i will chime in. But before anyone sa...
